I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

need help exhaust question

Post by hondalowlow » August 16, 2006

so i got bored today and i went to the local exhaust shop and had a 2.5" catback bent for the hatch.

my old piping was 1 3/4 " small but so ristrictave to flow
the new exhaust is insane for power and loud as hell, you can hear the turbine spooling wich is neat and loud also but the overall exhaust noise is extremily loud, i have goldies old n-1 turbo muffler on my EK and it was a deep mello tone wich i liked. so does anybody know of how i can keep the 2.5" flow of my exhaust but make it quiet?

i was thinking of a 30" glasspack to quiet it up???

gimme your opnions.

Run a silencer in the end of the muffler, it quiets them up alot. Im not sure what effect it has on performance though.

X2 exactly what i was gonna recomend we have been using a lot of magnaflow stuff on cars to get a deeper tone you can get all type length of resognators wich will not restrict flow.

i went and got a 2.5" inlet/outlet 30" long magnaflow resinator/glasspack for it, cut and welded it in, its straight through flow so it wont hurt perfoirmance and sounds good. its a little loud for me but i gotta remember that i got 2.5" on my car now not 1.3/4" so problem solved, i bet if i get a new n-1 with the perfs inside it and not a peice of 2.5 pipe butted up to the inner funnel and welded it will quiet it up more, but we will see for the most part problem solved. i bet it toned it dwon 60% of what it was but it has that mean bark when you jump on it. it sounds good but like i said its a little too loud for me i like deep mello tones, but i guess im stuck with it.

oh yeah i smoked a 98 comaro ss with a CX tranny,
the EX soon to be installed. muhahahaha
