I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

they work pretty well on large displacement applications where the engine can spool the turbo (even a rather large one) without any difficulty...
they even have some uses in smaller displacement engines that just don't have the ROOM for a conventional setup
Of course a conventional setup is a more practical in most applications, there are advantages to this type of setup (when properly executed of course) in the right setup however
-less underhood heat from the turbo
-retention of stock exhaust manifold/header designs in applications like v6's/v8's that pose issues with traditional single turbo applications
-low cost
-easy install
there are obvious disadvantages also
-slower spool on smaller engines
-higher throttled volume and increased pressure drop
- location of turbo necessitates need to actually PUMP oil from the turbo oil drain back to the oil pan
