I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

All Motor b18c build up

Post by Hercules » September 30, 2006

I guess i'm gonna put this in here because hopefully this motor will be in a crx by spring time.
For now i have the del sol with a bone stock b16a swap which i recently ran a 14.44 @ 94.9 with just an jg edelbrock open header, 15" street tires.
I also purchased a b18c1 97 gsr block from a guy in nj that had a bad cylinder.
Already disasembled and at the machine shop, got it bored .020 over and the cylinders cleaned up fine, also took .020 off the deck.
RS Machine 81.5mm ITR pistons in the mail
So the short block will be going on here within the month. Then will be buying head parts over winter. Probably will throw the block in the del sol to get some runs before winter but hopefully i get a crx to put the setup in. Heres a couple pics of the motor before taken apart and a few shots of the b16..

Not really any Final goals, id say for next summer to run into 12's or close to it with 101+ traps...then i'll probly get tired of it and save up to sleeve it with 85mm pistons and a 89 ls crank or somthing. lol
Heres some pics of the pistons they came in today!!

Got my block back today took a couple pics.
I have main bearings, next time i get a chance i'm gonna check the clearances and install the crank.
I need to order rod bearings, waterpump, oil pump, timing belt/tensioner and should be ready to go then.
Still confused on a car...this might have to get moved to a different section incase i get something besides a rex.
Heres the pics..

What did Fred say about the rods? I notice he didn't hone them. I would at least take some scotch brite and clean out the cooked oil. Deck and cross hatch both look very nice. Might want to take out that knock sensor, I broke mine not being carefull.

Rods were checked, The bad cylinder ,the rod was not bent but the journal was messed up. He said that some of the rod caps were mixed up..so he fixed them and they should be perfect...when i check for clearances i will know for sure! But he says they will be good.
