I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

Starting to work on another valve cover project. I've ground down the H and the dohc vtec and I'm going to send it out to get powdercoated again. Not sure what color I want yet though. Maybe a dark blue.

I'll be buying a 4th one soon and I'll be painting it the J's Racing color also.

Here's some progress on the shaved one. Got it all smoothed today.

Got my second stage of shaving done today. Not sure if I'm going to shave the 10mm holes on the back though...I've decided I'm gonna powdercoat it a candy blue. I posted a sample at the bottom.

i love working on valve covers ... i just finished my first one, but plan on doing quite a few more in the future. I've got 4 laying around just waiting haha ... all i need is some time.

Looks good so far though :up:

i plan on getting a swap next year....so i plan on doing something like this....or now maybe taking one out to the LBC for chon do one for me...lol

Looks nice and clean all smoothed out like that :up: . I think it would look baller powdercoated the same color as the lips on your wheels, that anodized blue look.

i know it's pretty straight forward, but know of any instruction pages I can forward to my buddy who was wanting to do this?

or any tips on what to use to sand down the thing?

sand, primer, sand, paint, wet sand, clear?

haha *an idiot with painting anything*

To sand down the raised letters, most people just use a grinding tool to cut bck on time, although some do used sand paper. Or you can get lucky like me, and find one for sale for cheap that's already done :) I've also heard of a few people taking them to machine shops as well, shouldn't cose more than a few bucks there anyway.

As far as getting the initial wrinkle coat (or any paint for that matter) off, use some Aircraft Stripper/Remover.

primer isn't necessary, but can be used ...

Check out the Appearance/Cosmetic section of Honda-Tech ... i'm pretty sure there are a few how-to's in there, maybe even a sticky.

Ozid - I grind down the bulk of it. But if you suck with a grinder, or don't have a steady hand you'll put divits everywhere. After I grind it I use a random orbital sander and some tools on a dremel to get everything completely smooth.

boostjunkie - thats a good idea, I know I wanted a blue color...just not sure what shade.
