two months of downtime or so later, and the motor was back in action. 84.5mm b16 this time ... same setup otherwise, 14psi pump gas... couldn't get it to go any lower for some reason.... This tune was so much smoother, drove like it was in stock form, but made 365whp ... I loved it. one week later, while racing a buddy on the highway, i shifted into 4th and it just went dead. Pulled the plugs immediately ... #4 looked like pure hell, the rest were okay. Swapped plugs quick and limped back home ... got it towed to my buddy's shop and pulled the motor and just forgot about it for a few days... had him pull the head off while i was at work
it looked a little something like this...
and this ..
I almost gave up ... considered selling everything and starting fresh. After some emotional support from everyone I stayed with it ... saved some money and here I am today. For the next few months, i'll be on a stock block and low boost on a super conservative street tune just to make sure everything is kosher ... then in goes the 85mm B16, Type R head (springs, retainers, blox b's) and some high boost on the 30R
Finished up the fuel setup yesterday ... just waiting on 2 lines, a filter, and a couple fittings and it's go time. All that's left is to double check the wiring to the fuel pump and injectors ...should turn the key on monday... tuesday at the VERY latest.
Also - just waiting on a lower gasket kit and the built motor can be assembled... that should be in and tuned by april.
I'll get some pics up in the next few days ... i'm just finally excited to drive this damn thing ... too bad we FINALLY got some snow in altoona, so i'll basically just be driving it from the shop to my storage shed.
Too bad munster and duanne got rid of there stock blocks .... i was all pumped to try stealing a title haha.
Oh well ... there's always the battle of the built blocks at the flashlight drags this year.
Wish me luck and hope it doesn't blow!
