I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

worth it...
I suggest sticking with what you have as the current info states that the "R" series from garret still Owns the Borg extended tips. Maybe asking on Evans' site would be a better source of information, they seem to be where its at for turbo cars in our area.

While it is true the Borgs can support more power with a smaller turbo efficiently, it requires you to run a much higher boost level. I would think that this would sufficiently reduce the life of they turbo by putting over twice the stress on it to run 50% more boost.

How can garret be a bandwagon when they are the best turbo out there. Higher boost level means more stress on turbo and more stress on a new motor. When you are a big dog with sponsors you are replacing your engine or at least freshening it up every other week. To each their own but there is so much more to it than horsepower. 375-450 is more than enough to beat most anything around here anything more than that and its useless.

i think he's having Chris do it... can't beat the "buddy discounts" we get, and it's nice and local ... Cost on all parts, some labor is free, and the rest we get for dirt cheap.

----

back to the topic though.

If infact it DOES require you to run a higher boost level - then i won't bother doing it... I was under the impression that it didn't though, because the flow rates of their smaller turbo's are roughly the same as a garrett of a bit larger of a size.

I haven't looked into it completely, because I'm happy with my 30R ... so i'm pretty sure i'm keeping it regardess ... but if i'm able to sell mine to break even for the price of a borg warner, and also be able to make even the same power at the same boost levels, but having a quicker spool time ... i might do it. Nothing's in stone ... but like i'm saying, if i don't lose any money on the deal, and end up having an even more broad powerband ... then it might sway my decision.

And bandwagon wasn't really the word i was looking for... because garrett does have great quality products so that's the main reason people stick to it. What I meant by the statement, is that there are so many people out there that are so close minded, that no one wants to even try to think about another company... even if they are good.

It's like the whole turbo manifold thing... people are so bent on full-race, and while they might have great quality products ... there are quite a few other companies out that are up there too. Arizona Forced Induction and RLD-Fab just to name a few .... and on top of that, people think that it's MANDITORY to run a top mount or equal length manifold to make big power, and Knauff, I know you can vouch that sometimes a good quality log manifold is sufficient... it's just the fact that anymore, people ONLY read things or go by things that a friend of a friend say. No one really seems to have real-life experience anymore...

My buddy chris is putting it together. Me and denis talked about runing the BB 60-1 S-cover. I guess the same one that boosteditr41 has. Yeah the old b16 was fun but after awhile it just wasnt cutting it for me felt like an N/A car after awhile. Matt your gay and you already spank my ass so what the differene if we race??

What I noticed with your car, duanne, is that as soon as it'd hit 3rd gear it'd feel like it died off. It didn't, because it still pulled hard ... but it just seemed to fall on it's face. I don't know if that's because the torque curve was so damn flat from like 4500+ or what ... but it's just weird. Maybe because of the small exhaust side on the turbo? At first i thought it was just a stock b16 nature, and i was expecting my stockblock setup to be the same ... but it's not. My car feels just like it did with the previous 2 setups.

and thhhhstop it! I'm not gaayyy. First of all, tug jobs don't come with fries or a soodaaa...
