I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

2007 Western PA Meet idea.

Post by munster » February 11, 2007

Boostjunkie and myself were talking about a different type of meet this summer. Just testing the waters to see what you guys think.

There's alot of dams and reservoirs around here with pavilions available for rent. We were thinking about renting a pavilion at somewhere like Dumans Dam and have an all day meet. We could barbeque, fish, etc. I haven't gotten prices on the pavilions yet, but I can find out the different prices.

Along with the bbq...we were thinking of something new. We thought about holding the first annual Thejdm.com Kick Some Bass Fishing Tournament. We would figure out details at a later date if it happens. I'd like to see if some places would be willing to donate a few prizes for the winner of the tournament plus maybe some raffle prizes.

I'd like to see this happen. It would be way more fun than the usual sit in a parking lot meet. Plus the western PA meets can usually get a decent turnout. Would give guys a place to sit and BS, plus the wives/girlfriends wouldn't be totally bored since it's at a place where there's alot to do. Even kids would have a blast because all of the parks have playgrounds and Dumans has a kiddie train that goes around the park.

What do you guys think? Should I pursue this?

Thats a fantastic idea. Those guys that came up with it.....sheer genius...haha =) . I think it would definatley be a good time for all, something a little different then the usual parking lot meet and greet.

Plus the fishing tournament. I know there's alot of guys that fish around here. I'm surprised that TommyBanzai hasn't replied yet.

I was thinking about it last night, and I think there should be a prize for quantity of bass, and a prize for the largest.

It's about 5 miles off of route 422 about 10 minutes west of Ebensburg. Really easy to get to.

I'll call around in the next few weeks to get pricing on pavilions and see how many people we can have. We'll figure out what people would have to throw in to cover the cost of the pavilion plus when it gets closer to the time we could figure out who would bring what (hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, etc.)
