i scored an 84 on it. so i know i can get a good job. i've just gotta see whats available. i've wanted to be a ranger for almost my whole life. it just appeals to me for some reason.

Tomo - you can get a lot of jobs with that score. Of course, it's the line scores that match you up with certain jobs. Just make sure you don't pick some MOS that doesn't actually do their job, for example, Light Wheel Mechanic. If nothing's wrong with the HMMWVs, they sweep for IEDs out in front of convoys. Not fun.

Sean - Bingo. Civilian news outfits are biased beyond belief, and they all focus on Iraq too much. The US is involved in much, much more than Iraq.

They focus on Iraq because that's all they ever hear about. Have you ever watched the news lately? It's all Anna Nicole Smith and Britney Spears with a 2 minute segment on bombings in Iraq. I feel sorry for the degenerate morons that don't look any deeper (unfortunately it's about 3/4 of America).

I meant the news organizations focus too much on Iraq. Fox, CNN, NBC, etc. all get the same information but it's up to them to decide what gets on the air. They choose to air stories about Iraq, so then people get interested in Iraq, so in turn they report more on Iraq, and on and on. It's a vicious cycle.. as Fat Bastard would say Every now and then they throw something in there about Afghanistan but it's few and far between, and it took things getting really bad for them to start reporting it again at all.

i think military is a great idea for those who need something better to do with there life or want a change, or need discipline or are just having a baby (not pickin on you tenchu) and need a better source of income, or better life i just personally dont see myself living a military life style. i like the civilian world too much to be away, i don't want to alter my appearance just for some government job. i personally dont wanna make the sacrifices necessary to join.

EDIT: and for those of you in the service, i dont care what branch, i respect you all. what you are doing takes courage and for those of you deployed, return home safe! thank you for serving our country!

It's fun to read back through this thread after spending 6 months as an Iraq/Iran guy in Kuwait. Brings a new perspective.

^^ how is it? i'vs been looking into the WA national guard too. the NG i think is the best choice, tons of options. i can either do active first, which ill join the NG, then decide to go NG or active duty for a certain amount of time. if i do active, i have to join for 8 years, i spend 4-6 years active and get that bonus, then when my active duty ends i go back in the guard and get another 20k bonus. im either gonna do that or just go NG and stay around this area.

im not sure exactly what i want to do yet, but i think id eventually like to do rangers and airborne so ill probably end up going 11b.
