Guys,

Ok check it out. Me and my boy kotomile are gonna paint my plastic engine cover. I have never done anything like this so I would like thoughts and opinions. I was thinking of going with a camo paint scheme, either urban (grey, black, white. or Water, grey, white and blue.) but that seems kinda complicated though with painting certain sections one color. Removing the tape, wait for it to dry. Put tape over it paint the next section. So I was thinking of maybe just a good solid blue. (my favorite color, and color of the accents under my hood). So I wanted to know what you guys think. I would also like to know what is a good paint to use for this project? Anything out there really good for plastic? Anyone done camo that can give me advice?

camo is a long process but looks pretty cool if done right...since your gonna paint on plastic i would suggest using an adhesion promoter as a base to start with, then you can use just about any paint you would like.

yeah you should be able to get it at your local autoparts store...i got some at my local Auto Zone

also you can look into vinyl dye. ive used it to paint plastic computer monitors and shit, and it holds up, unlike regular spray paint that will scratch and peel off. but i dunno what temp with holding that has. your best bet would prolly be the adhesion promoter and some high temp. dont forget to scuff up the cover with a scotch pad. maybe ask on scion-life and see what they use. ive seen tons of boxes with the cover painted (and its the same in the xa.

ps- you ever consider turboing your xa?

I have been thinking about it. But I will probably go with the blitz suprcharger. I like that thing alot.

PS I hate scion life. They suck, I asked about work equip rims, and I kept getting responses about 18 inch koings and stuff. Just not what I am looking for.

I would also try looking for stencils of the camo design. That would make things alot easier.
