who/what inspired you?

im kinda curious to everyone who or what car inspired you to build your car? weather it be a few parts that car had or someone tou know talked you into some things lets hear it!

for me when i first got into the whole 'clean jdm scene' munster kinda pushed me in the direction for 'clean' honda's with crazy motors. i ran across hybrids.jp and honda-tech early 2000 and noticed the amount of clean honda's with some of the japanese counterparts on and i fell in love. i did my own thing with my car for awhile i guess i still am but if i had to look up to anyone or a specific car im going to say..

jon duppong and jason pham. pham was building his blue EK hatch and the parts he was putting on that thing were just mind blowing. and now looking at duppongs car it just blows my mind how clean he made it with just simple OE parts.

My Dad. He got me into autocrossing, where function is valued over form and handling over outright power so a lot of that spills over into my cars, past and present. I tend to try and keep a low profile.

My friends keep me going with it. Josh (not tenchu) had a badass Integra after I got him into the scene in Jacksonville, and Jonathan (JDMJedi) is my car buddy in Augusta. In Augusta I run with Jonathan and his friends, some of whom have some fast cars, which is starting to make me need some power. I'll have "some more power" when I return from Kuwait... :twisted:

i would say Eddie Hahm and his orange eg hatch i saw that car in super street and then went out and took my body kit and eurotails off my old ef hatch ever since i been loving jdm and also Mike G and the whole amseven crew are also a big influence on me. I got to say the most biggest influence of all is ever body on the Thejdm.

I don't have an influence, and never really did.

Respect goes out to my ex and current AM7 homies:
Mike G - who started the urban green trend.
Noah - who was rockin' a GSR swap in an EG back in 1996.
@ries - who can tune a car with his eyes closed.
Ryan - one of the only people who's owned more wheels than me. SSR love.
Paul - bowling machine he's bowled more 300s than I've had birthdays.
Danny - brought back "going all out" into their daily beaters.

My homie Jon "JDM JON" Tanji (REST IN PARADISE) - just watching this guy work on peoples' cars makes me want to open a shop he makes it look so easy.
How many people do you know, can strip a car, pull the motor, build a 2.0L LSvtec from the ground up, have it in and running smoothly in 8 hours?
And then throwing in on your trailor to go race it.. Jon was the man.

There's so many people I gotta give respects to, but that would take years.

Loads have inspired me. But Kotomile has taught me more than anyone. couple of my buddies here. Omar with his fairlady, and Joey, when he isn't being an ass, with his SRT-4. But Mainly koto has taught me the most, and given me the opprotunity to actually get my hands dirty. Helped him put on suspension mods, and even his turbo. Those are what mainly keeps me going now.

seeing a couple of clean slammed 96-00 civics around my set.

i saw one that was selling for mad cheap and bought it...and started to re-build the whole thing. 2 1/2 years and running...im not even close to what i have pictured in my mind...but i love it.

i got into cars cause my dad was a mechanic and taught me things about them... my first car had so many problems that i had to learn to fix it more often then drive it... i never really got into the JDM scene after i got my civic but when i did buy it i knew i wanted something with clean lines and of stock apperence... then i found out that that idea was the sole basis of JDM... as for why my car looks the way it does... that comes from the Cusco Civic Type R that i had seen in a HondaTuning magazine... i knew i wanted that bumper and something as clean looking as that... lucky for me i was in the best country to find it otherwise i prolly wouldnt have found the Airwalker....

id have to say jdmcivic.com. my first car was an ef that i decked out in sweet chrome rims, autometer gauges, and huge exhaust pipes. then after looking at some of the EF's on jdmcivic.com, i fell in love with the functionality of everything that were on those cars. when i got my EP, unfortunatly i went down the dark road of jdm stickers, but soon after i saw some clean EP's, i started to build my car with functionality in mind. there is not a single sticker on my EP now :p
