I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

my cars broke :(

Post by .saint » July 06, 2007

so on my way to work today my car decides to take a shit on me.

least it was by my house. right at the top of berkley i was heading down the lights started flickering real bad my CEL came on and then my car shut off.

so i coasted off into the professional building and tried to start it. it was trying to kick over but the ECU was going crazy i can hear it clicking and making a bunch of noises. not sure if something got messed up in the motor if the ecu went or what. it was running fine yesterday on the way home now this? crazy i didnt even go anywhere lastnight. hopefully this is an easy fix and nothing is seriously wrong. this sucks.

to me it seems like a ground problem, but its 2 dark out to check at the moment.

when mine had the ground come off the speedo and tach went nuts. do the usuals first. check fuel, spark, etc. have to at least get it running to pull a code.

as far as splices the only ones on your motor are the iacv and map if I remember correctly.

checked it all. didnt seem like there was a spark going to try new spark plugs. still dont make sence for the main relay to go bonkers.

maybe the ecu is fried thats why there is no spark? and the relay went bonkers?

did you throw a CEL prior to this accident? its possible you fried your ELD, never got it replaced, now you fried your ECU or something else electrical.

welp...

pulled the ecu apart. water in the ECU. WTF! my car sat in the rainstorm lastnight and well it obviously has a leak.

i got the ecu dried off some and the car actually started. it sat @ like 2K idle for about a minute or 2 and then shut itself off.. the idle sounded horrible like it has a misfire. its deff the water ni the ecu that caused the prob and now i dunno if its fried or what but im gonna let it set for awhile to see what happens. maybe it will dry itself enough to where it will be ok.

Hopefully it didn't fry the ecu. Call around and see if anyone has an ecu for you to borrow just to make sure that's the problem. If not then we can plug mine in and try it when I get home.
