you should actually taper it from 3" opening to about 2.75" at the TB, you could do it, you would need a lot of metal and a welder to make it only 2 pieces

yup, a tapered design would work best. i'm using an ebay intake arm that i got for $10 (3'' mandrel bent) and slapped a k&n filter on it. short-rams for life!@

My Weapon R intake I got for $20 seems to kick a lot of ass.
