Re-working the hatch...

So, finally decided to swap out the 'ole D15Z1 for something a tad better. This last Wednesday I ordered up an SiR-II B16A.

Figured also while we're going to be in there and doing the swap to get a few things:
OEM Timing Belt
OEM Radiator Hoses
OEM T-Bracket
Exedy Clutch
Buddy Club head gasket

Alot of people said get this, do that, blah blah blah. I listened ... a little bit. It'll work fine, run fine, drive fine when it's done I bet. I'm not too worried about anything else. It'll be fun.

The car has a few things done to it already.

Going in this:

I'll post pics when parts come in and of the swap when it happens.

Well, the white car can't pass emisions because the o2 sensor crapped out and the cheapest anyone here in town has one for is $650 because it's a 5 wire o2 ... I don't know why that makes it more expensive though. So, we figured instead of spending $650 to keep our little 100whp civic going, we'd use it towards something a little better, lol.

That and the EF has a DOHC ZC in it which works good for me right now.

No lightened flywheel right now, we seriuosly considered doing it and were going to order one but wanted to keep the initial swap under $3,000 and the total came out to be $2,978.50

Awesome, should be a blast to drive. Might want to throw a new water pump on that B16 before you drop it in as well.

A few people have said water pump. Explain. I mean, would it really be that worn out on an engine with less than 50,000K? I've just never had to raplace any on the cars i've previously owned, (2 were 1972 Datsun 510's), so i'm just wondering if it's a Honda thing.

It's only about $50 for a brand new one so if there were a means to back up the $50 and putting it on i'd do.

It just good prevenative maintenence, much like replacing the timing belt. Better to spend $50 now and get a new pump then have the old one crap out and spend $500+ on a new motor.
