SOO, Update...

Picked up the H22 head today

lil dirty but its been sitting for a while, taking it to get dipped this week then time to start ordering parts...

What should i use to clean the valves/springs/retainers/cams/and other misc. stuf that unbolts from the block? I took everything off except for the rockers and will just have them dipped with the head. i was told mineral spirit could work to clean the other stuf but i also have a bunch of other cleaners including throttlebody cleaner, engine degreaser, etc. which i was considering using to touch the other stuf up.

So far took and wiped everything down with a dry cloth and everything is sorted and in plastic containers now to keep safe before the build. engine will get dipped this week then gonna start tearing down the other engine after i get parts ordered

Power steering is either gonna be looped or do the manual rack considering the brackets are dif so might as well leave it off now instead of doing it later

Brake cleaner/carb cleaner will work great cleaning all of the top-end parts.

where would i go about ordering a thinner head gasket? can honda order something like that or do i have to go aftermarket? hoping to make up for lost compression by running a thinner head gasket with the stock bottom end then next year will rebuild the bottom end. Is the only thing holding me back atm from having this head put on, if anything i'll run a summer with a stock gasket and slightly lower comp if i cant find one considering i will be going back to stock thickness next year with the H22 pistons...

also what are your guys feelings on running the valve guides already in this head? any need to replace those this year or is it something that shouldn't have to be replaced with the setup being stock? Also need to clean/sort out the springs to figure out which are exhaust and which are intake, hopefully they have makings left on them, if not might have to order those to...

PS. Billy, those cam plate bolts dont match up with the H23, H22 needs 8x50mm instead of 6x65mm

good part is they are only .97c each but i need 20 of them, either way ordering them this week new with other stuf just to make sure i got the right ones...

Just use a few walmart bags for your hg, should do fine. It's what I did when I had to replace my headgasket

^^lol. Cometic makes thinner head gaskets but they are around $90-$100, not sure if your looking to spend that much dough on one since your rebuilding next year.
