I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

Mom's ride went blah

Post by Teaks92HB » August 20, 2008

maybe someone can throw me in the right direction. I was wondering on the 1992 honda accord ex wagon if the fuel access cover is the same on the civics. Her fuel pump went, at least i'm hoping. her car just died and you dont hear the pump prime or run. so i'm gonna check that out. just let me know.

thanks!

I don't know shit, but that's the first thing that sprung to mind. Something on the way, not having the pump even try.

That said, Jeff will probably swing by the thread and prove me exactly wrong. ;)

relay and fuse are first to check, then dig for the pump. good luck!

typically fuel pumps take a shit long before the relay does....but if u want to test the relay, ur gunna have to make a lil jumper harness blah blah blah...just swap it with another known working one. But my bet is still on fuel pump.

quick test that works but is a bid crude is just lay underneath and pound the shit outta the gas tank. the vibrations could be enough to get the fuel pump off the bad brush or winding and get to work...if the car fires right up then BOOM diagnosed the fuel pump.

does the car crank still? do u still have spark? i would check those too to make sure u didnt drop the cam position sensor.

It could still be the relay, especially on older Hondas. Doesn't hurt to check, it's a lot easier to get to than the fuel pump!

Well got it towed home. car does turn over. I was pounding on the bottom of the tank, and noticed that someone bottomed out the car at one time. right where the fuel pump sits it caved up some. and mom being parked on the hill bullshitting for 15 minutes at idle while car sat on E would explain the fuel pump going. she said she heard a loud humming noise then what she describes as a BOOM. i told her it didn't go boom... but I need to drop the tank since the access panel only gives you access to the float.....

oh and under the D.S. dash is a huge cluster fuck of wiring. And the car is equipped with an original Honda security system. It consists of little switches. any one ever see that b4? its new for me.

but i'll keep you updated.
