check the splines on the distributer for damage.
Possible sludging on oil pickup...
Possible the oil restrictor problem etc

mighty max? if so... 4g63t drop into it. the transmissions don't hold for shit though, but there is a guy that is making bellhousings for really whatever transmission you want to bolt up to the thing.
