I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

I don't know if it actually saves it as a txt file, but it displays all posts that are archived as plain text, nothing else.

It would have to free up a little space.

Why would that free up space? The posts are saved as text in the database... It'd either save them twice: once as text, once in the DB, or it would remove them from the database and save them only as plain text, which as I said before, would require someone to manually write all the sql functions to put them back into the DB if anyone wanted to access the archives or reformat the server. On top of that if it removed them from the database, it would mean no-one could search for old posts, which I think would definitely detract from the boards as a whole.


ps: we may experience a little more downtime sometime tonight when I install a new 10gig hard drive ryan found lying around.

maybe next pay i can pick up a 60gig or something. they are fairly cheap now-adays. or donate for a HD.

k, server's won't be down till fone gets a 60 gig'r or whatever they decide on and we move the db over to that. ps: 7200 rpm + 8mb will make for FASTAR FORUMS, if ya'll can afford it :-p
