I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

maybe you are right about the meaning of CRX! i cant seem to find the website i saw it on before, i got my info from somebody who was wrong i guess.
found this...
Crx? What does it mean?
Crx means Civic Renaissance Model X. Renaissance means a rebirth of something; therefore Crx means it is a rebirth of the civic car. If you own a Crx or know a little about them you will realize that most of the parts are compatible with the 88-91 civic car. The Crx was based off of a civic. This is why it is called a civic Crx.

...on this site... http://www.geocities.com/kingcrx/Kcmtwony.html
but i dont know how reliable this site is... read the bs under "how do i PAINT my crx si wheels?"
simple answer... YOU DON"T!

and thats exactly what is is. a rebirth of the civic. if you look at the backend of a 1st gen rex, you will see it says honda on the upper left, civic on the upper right, and CRX in the middle tail light piece. All it really is is a different shell on (almost) the same chassis

CRX = Civic Renaissance Model eXperiment.
CRX HF = Carb'ed 1.5L
CRX Si = Fuel Injected 1.6L
CRX DX = Carb'ed 1.5L
Parts from the 84-87 CRX are not that much compatible with the 84-87 Civic, not considering engine parts.

The Si series started in '84 with Fuel Injection. They were more expensive compared to the DX and the HF. I promise that the info on the Si is correct, visit http://www.redppperracing.com. Have a good day, race hard, and preseve those Rexes/Civics.

well as a long time http://www.redpepperracing.com member and owner of a 86 crx Hf let me clear up all of the incorrect information on this thread

crx stands for civic renaissance type x

the 1G crx and 3G civic was from 84-87 and they were all carb'd except for the SI model which started in 85.

SI was only available in the hatch and crx, not in the sedan or wagon's.

they had a solid rear axle with an internal torsion bar system that worked as a sway bar in all models except for the HF model.

front suspension uses torsion bars instead of springs.

the SI's came with a 1.5 liter non-CVCC engine, not a 1.6 liter.

most common engine swaps are the 86-87 integra D16A1 DOHC browntop and the 88-89 integra D16A1 DOHC blacktop. the browntop being more common because of it's vacuum advance distributor making it an easier swap compared to the blacktop's more advanced electronic advance distributor, even though the blacktop had like 5 or so mopre HP.

all motor mounts are configured differently than the 88+ civic's which means custom mounts for any swap you want to do other than the DOHC D16A1. i had to make my own mounts to put a B18B1 in my 86 HF which now weighs in right at 1600 pounds with full interior.

if anyone has any other questions referring to the 84-87 chasis please feel free to ask me or check out redpepperracing.com (i have the same username on there).

Bet ya didn't know that!
Who really knows what Si stands for(origanlly)?...and a cookie goes to anyone who knows SiR!
Well CR-X actually stands for Civic Rennisance type-X
Si originally stood for sequential injection because they had 12 valve programed fuel injection, but later the Honda Co. changed it to Sport Injected since the Si's had a 1.5l engine other than the 1.3l that the base & dx civics and crx's came with. If you wanna get down to the nitty gritty, the CRX's had the Si's before the Civics..from all the popularity of Si crx's, the Si moved to civics. SiR stood for Sport Injected Racing. Theses were available with a 1.6l engine i believe. but yea. I like chocolate chunk cookies.
this man knows his crap!
