I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

car insurance?

Post by Mugen Ferio » July 22, 2004

anyone out there know of some insurance i can get for my civic that wont drop me for doing a JDM convertion? once i tell them i am taking out the airbags they cut the conversation off right then and there. I think its total bullshit but if anyone can help out with some insurance agencies that will cover a converted car let me know please.

You'd almost have to find an exotic insurance that covers cars that are imported. Email/call some importers and see what they say. Good luck.

Do you have to tell them you're taking the airbags out? Do they even have to know that the car is modified at all?

I also thought of that. Why tell them that there's no airbags?

i never told my insurance company i took the bags out... i asked them what all would be covered if i added parts to my car. they said they can cover anything that has a sales slip for proof that it was bought legit.

the reason i have to tell them is if i would get in an accident and it was my fault, if i had a passenger with me and they got hurt then the insurance wouldnt cover the injuries sustained and probably drop me because of the liability.....that is what the insurance agent for for my parents said and i dont want them losing thier insurance over me. I am still thinking about the whole thing. I guess we will have to see

why don't you go to a new insurance company, and tell them the model you bought doesn't come with air bags? There's got to be an option to order a 90's civic with no airbags...
