vtec oil pressure sensor (kind of long)

So I've had this problem for a while where after being in vtec for a few seconds, my car throws a CEL. It's code 22 which is the vtec oil pressure sensor. I know the reason for this code is that the motor is a 99 b16b and the ecu is a obd1 p30. The obd1 ecu looks for the sensor, but the motor doesn't normaly have one. So I'm wondering if I could just plug one in and solve the problem. The car is a vx, so I'd think that the harness would have the right plug. There is one extra plug in that area, it has four wires. Is that the right one? Where does the sensor plug into the motor? Someone please help me out here, this is driving me crazy.

for some reason the jdm type r engines didn't use a vtec oil pres sensor. the sensor is located on the side of the solenoid. yours just has a recessed hole. you can use a different solenoid that has one or drill and tap yours. the harness plug should be green and its a 2 wire.

Is there any way to reflash the ECU to not look for the sensor?

u should be able to jump the wires for the sensor in your harness and it will tell the computer that its always functioning. shouldn't throw a code or light

I actually tried the ghetto method of this by sticking a paperclip in the pins. Sounds stupid, but it's supposed to work. However it didn't work on my car, it just started throwing code 21. So now I'm a little nervous to start cutting wires on the harness. That's why I was hoping to get it working the way it should instead of tricking it.

I just lookd at my car and for some reason the plug has been cut off. I took it to a shop a couple of months ago for the same problem, I guess that was their retarded idea to fix it. Should I try to rewire it, or try and bypass it at the ecu again?

Woooo! I fixed it! I ended up re-wiring it at the ecu. I tapped D6 into A4 and now it gets a constant signal. i gOt VtECH yO!
