I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

Your view on JDM

Alright well I just want to ask what everyones point of view is with the whole JDM thing. Some people say that if it isn't a brand name then you are crap and ain't jdm from what i have gathered on some forums. I am starting to see this JDM thing kind of get out of control.. everyone is buying CF seats and Takata harnesses.. what gives? hell i like Willans harnesses better.. used in F1  but I see alot of people make fun of someones car because they have Rota's or they have a "fake" badge on their car. It just confuses me sometimes because I am new to the jdm thing and I love it but man people get out of control. That is like walking down the street and pointing and laughing at a woman cuz her Gucci bag is fake. I dunno.. i just wanna hear what others have to say on it..

p.s. there ARE brands made in Japan that don't have the same rep as others but still great products.. another point i had to make.

Made for the Japanese market, and not also marketed to Americans by the original company = Japanese Domestic Market, period.

some people just like to go overboard as with everything :) Personally as long as it looks clean, and it's fast, I don't really give a shit where the parts came from :) I guess that means I'm not quite "jdm" enough :(

^yes, if it flows with the vehicle, then it looks good, no matter what market it is from. buying something b/c of where it is from is stupid. i never say "i have a jdm cluster," instead, i state the reason i have it, "i have a cluster with glowing needles" b/c, err, i like glowing needles! get my point?

<-------thats the cluster in question actually. i like things for function, and i make many roadtrips and it is true, the amber is really easier on the eyes at night.

everyone has their own views on the way cars should look. if u like it, fuck what every one else thinks. but ur right ppl do get out of control with the whole JDM thing but seriously who cares? i love the way JDM looks but not because that's what every one else likes, it's what i like.

i enjoy it becuse its clean and oem.. for those not familiar with the japanese market and look inside my car they notice alot of the same OEM parts they have just 'diffent' its an eye catcher. its my work on wheels. some like it some dont, some complain about having original parts and joke the knockoff's i wont lie im one of those people.. i could goto a car show and point out real jdm parts from the fakes only because i built my car with the real. other freaks like myself that can point fingers and look at who spent the time and money to go out to find a set of rare honda access pedals or a rare ignition light will open more eyes to some1 thet never seen it before.

knockoff parts dont impress me the quality might be good it might fit perfect.. but knowing its not HONDA stamped or volk, mugen, spoon whatever bugs me a little... thats like going out and painting a beautiful picture.. sell it for 100 bucks... then some1 comes along and does the same thing and sells it for 50.. you are going to be bummed out... especially when YOU know the quality of your's vs. theres.

lol, given the quality of some of honda's parts, having that stamp doesn't mean much to me :> no offense jawn... but for instance, my entire dash piece that SHOULD be holding in the stereo pops out on any sort of bump in the road.... talk about annoying. They could've at least maybe put some screws in the damn thing to hold it in place instead of some shitty little clips that would have trouble holding a piece of paper in place.
