idle problems

I recently had an OBX intake manifold put on my d series and now it idles crazy it starts and goes to about 3000 then drops to 1500 and bounces between there and 2000 like a heartbeat. I dont know what the problem is. Im sure it was installed good. Help is greatly appreciated haha thanks

Check that thread. It's about swapping a y8 manifold to a y7, but should help you out. Either way it's a vacuum leak. Just have to figure out where.

The guy that installed it thinks that a y8 ecu will save us alot of problems. And will ease out the idle becuase the computer is getting a weird signal of too much air and to compensate is throwing in more fuel, causing the idle to rise.

What do you guys think?

I don't think a y8 ecu would solve any problems. You'd actually create more when it's looking for a vtec solenoid.

I definitely think it is a matter of a vacuum leak.

i pit the intake manifold on homers civic.. install went good but it has idle surge..

yea, installing a y8 computer on a non-vtec motor, will not solve anything... double check the hoses... maybe check the iac but if your car was running ok before the swap, then chances are it's not the iac... good luck...

I pissed around with it for a while and i found that i think it is the throttle body gasket..well definitly that maybe something else. It has a small gap and when i sprayed carb and choke cleaner on it the car revved really high so i know it is that for sure but it also could be a vacuum leak elsewhere so i might put it on my buddies comp and see if it has a leak somewhere
