I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

Fake Japanese license plates

Post by onajinohito » June 04, 2005

What is the deal with this going on in America right now? I like running Japanese plates and how they look, hell I do it myself, but can people not tell the difference between real and fake. It kills me going to shows and seeing them, I usually go up to the car and run my fingers over it with the owner standing by the car. Do these people put these tags on knowing they are fake? They don't look anything like real ones. Alot of the fake ones don't even have the full city name or the numbers in the right style. If I am wrong help me out with this. Somebody smack me and make me understand why we would do something half ass or fake.

I'd guess that most people have never seen a real plate, or an accurate copy, and haven't put enough time and thought into finding out; so they really don't know how dumb they look.

yellow plates are for 660cc engines only. they have the cheapest JCI and Road Tax here since they are really small cars.

Japanese plates are not as hard to find as everyone thinks. For the nice ones you will pay but these ARE real. This one is from Hiroshima.

The best advice I can give to someone that doesn't read Japanese is make sure at the top there are 2 japanese characters. 1 character is usually either fake or old.

i was told those lighted plates are pretty rare. and most are placed on the front? i dont want a front plate. ill only need one. something i can slap on at a car show. i dont feel like drilling my bys bumper for a plate and i think sometimes the plate on the front of an oe bumper takes away fromt he cleanness. (unless its illegal to run no front plate then its legit)
