It takes a little more than that to build an ls/vtec, but I get what you're saying.sfc wrote: I can't imagine you can't get a motor for a fuckton less than the cost of OEM doing the bodywork even without an insurance check though. Hell, I got a perfectly good b18b block for 105$ a while back. I *KNOW* you can find a b16 or b18c head to slap on there for less than 500$ easily. That's an LS/vtec for <600$, shouldn't take THAT long to save up for if you work fulltime. Hell, I have that much in my bank account right now and I'm a poor bastard.
Everyone looks at a situation differently and has different opinions about it. Since everyone is throwing their two cents...here's mine and what I would do. I'd get the dent popped and resprayed if needed. Not a color change, and save for a motor. Talk to Boob and he can find you a motor easily for under $1500. Then while the stocker is out you can spray the engine bay (championship white if you want) then save again to the do the color change.
But to each his own, and I know that a motor is going to be in Goldy's future eventually (I hope). I do give you props because everything you have done thus far has been A1.
