I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

b18b or b18c1
Hey guys... need your opinion... i recently "fell" into some money and a b18c1 is looking alot better than the b18b i was going to put into my car. a friend of mine already said he was interested in the b18b so that he would take his turbod b16 and put it in his coupe and turbo the b18b and put it in his hatch. i was thinking about getting the b18c1 and ive been looking for a set up to do for quite some time because i planned on boosting the LS. Know of ne sites / forums that i could check for a c1, im familiar with different ones but gimme your 2 cents.
let me know what i should do and what kinda turbo set up i should run if i do end up getting the c1.
b18b or b18c1 that is the question. . .thanks

End horsepower goals?
If you have enough money...sell the LS, buy the GSR and turbo that. The LS will love boost, but if you are looking for higher numbers in the end...the GSR is a better choice. The head breathes more and the main caps are better.

Or do you mean it has a Girdle??
I say buy a vtec head for $600, Get some rods and pistons with the leftover $$$.
Boost the shit out of it.
Find a b16 of GSR tranny later

By far GSR is the better motor. You have to look at your end results though are you gonna be happy with 250-300 hp then stay with the LS. If you want to make more power than that I would consider the GSR. The benefits are head flows better, oil squirters, block girdle. The one thing you do gain from a non vtec build is torque but you can make decent amount of torque with a vtec. Also to make a LS head flow almost as good as a vtec head takes a lot of money, I know this because we just did a fully built 2 liter LS motor really sick car as a matter of fact but, he has more money in the non-vtec build that you would have in a vtec build because of having to pay for machining to put a block girdle in and had buy a block girdle plus bolts for the block girdle. Then having to pay to have the head completely redone with stainless valves and crower springs and retainers, not saying you need to do this right away with every LS build but if you want to make power this will be in consideration as well.
You can take a GSR block sleeve it put pistons rods in it and make 500hp no problem with a stock head (see sig). All in all you have to figure whee you want to be in the end good luck.

see im thinking GSR, the b18b ran me about 2,300. the set up we had going on it was gonna run about 4,000-4,500. we had figured that would pry put down about 275-285. the GSR is going to run me about 3,600. One kit im looking at for the GSR is the Peak Boost.
Peeak Boost - ex: Stock B18C Civic 349whp/230ftlbs @ 9.5lbs (dsport magazines :project eg: nov.2004 dec.2004) Stock B18C Civic 270whp/195ftlbs @ 6lbs On average this kit makes ~20whp per lb of boost
im really leaning toward the C1 so if you guys have ne advice towards that route id appreciate it.
