I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain
The story of the broken, wannabee EG6.
The story of the broken, wannabee EG6.
This 1995 Honda Civic DX came into owner Josh Barrett's hands, hardly worthy of being dubbed a Civic. This hatch was in such acrid condition, that the passenger door was incapable of opening.
After Barrett took this Civic Hatch into his possession, plans immediately followed. The car was taken to a local auto body the day of the purchase and was immediately inspected. Severe unibody damage was exposed beneath the war scared shell.
Soon after inspection, Barrett found his new ride, which would get him around while the hatch went through surgery. As soon as the beater found its new home, the hatch was in the body shop, and went straight to work.
Merely a few weeks later, and hardly soon enough, the beater took a poop. Money was tight, and the project was put on hold.
Paint was already mixed for the hatch, but the body was not complete, so merely the passenger side of the vehicle was painted, making for a humorous paint scheme. Months of job changes and job losses, work was yet to continue. Only months later did the hatch start to see new joy once again.
In July of 2005, almost one year after the previous improvement on the Civic, work continued. The stock 1.5L single over-head cam engine seized due to a failed oil pump, and a newer engine, out of a 2000 Honda Civic DX replaced its worn predecessor. Barrett then succeeded to purchase a new back bumper cover, Fiber Images carbon fiber hood, OEM dashboard, Honda optional audio center console, and other misc. parts. The light at the end of the tunnel is once again starting to glow. What once seemed so far away, and what once many doubted, its starting to become a reality.
Plans for the final appointment at the body shop are in works, and the hatch will soon be roaming the streets of Wisconsin looking closer than ever, to Barrett's dream hatch.
Plans are endless with this Civic hatchback. A single over-head cam turbo engine and Advan RG wheels are in concept, amongst many other bits and pieces from Japan. Josh Barrett has put his heart and soul into this Civic, and hopes to one day have a well known, idolized EG Civic hatchback . . .
