I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

power potential on a budget

Post by PINK13 » September 06, 2005

In about 6 months i'll be getting my silvia (sr20det) and should have about $20k AUD (approx. $15k USD) left over after purchasing the car just for modifications, i haven't been into performance cars for a real long time and still a bit fazed when it comes to a lot of performance parts etc, i'm catching on slowly but not quite there yet, does anybody have any idea roughly how many KW i'll be looking at for this amount of cash?

I would suggest putting the bulk of that money into suspension/drivetrain/wheels. For power your could start by making it breathe a bit better and run consistently.

It would also be good for you to find a local shop, I've seen A LOT of good Nissans come from local shops in Australia. I will try to have more info to help you later tonight (in 12 hours).

Not entirely though, I've never owned a SR, but I have a buddy that does and I'll research what I can to help you out. I don't want you to have to spend all that money and come out with a mediocre car.

There's an example of what can be done with a SR20.

There's alot that can be done for 15k. You need to sit down, just like any car, and decide what you want to do with the car in the end. Do you want mediocre handling and straight line speed? Do you want a "balanced" car?
