I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

When Toyota decides to move forward on a decision, it will be very profitable for them, they never make huge mistakes. That company makes way too much money and has way too many good decisions.
For christ sake they didn't have employee pricing and LOWERED there incentives and we still sold a ton of cars.
In 2003 Toyota profited $40,000,000.00 (thats 40 million) selling carpet floor mats world-wide. Think abouty how much money they profit on cars.
Lexus of Japan is already open and my friend is already doing reviews on their car.
To comment on the super cars or sports cars comment.....they make more money selling Prius then they do Supra, so the supra is gone and the Prius plant runs 24hrs a day and is rolling the cash in....the Supra plant never made them that kinda money. Toyota isn't gonna build a car and lose money on it, like Chevy did on the Corvette, to keep tradition alive. Thats the kinda stuff that sinks a company, and well GM is hurtin right?
My car is cleaner than your ass.

wrong. the supra, while it was a limited market automobile DID make them money in the early years, the car after a few years was no longer innovative and did not offer what some people wanted. hell one year they ONLY came in automatic....WTF is that? and just so you know, the PRIUS is not toyota's highest grossing automobile, its their THIRD, the camary and the corolla hold the first 2 positions in the US
Just call me Dr. Vice.
Um read above son, I know better then you do.
Used the Prius as an example only since it kept coming up in this thread\
In actuality Toyota loses near 5,000.00 per copy to sell a Prius... the last time I heard at least. That figure came befor they doubled production, so im sure its not so bad now. The original prius was near 10,000 lose per copy to sell believe it or not. They know having this tech. in the current price range will help them soooo much in the future, they make the sacrfice now to profit later, and to be the leader in hybrid tech too.
Toyota actually sells their old hybrid tech to other manufactors to put in their current lineup ie: honda ford nissan subaru FYI
Nearly every car toyota sells is a better profit CURRENTLY then the prius, but being the forefront of hybrid tech now will allow them to make collosal profits later- they plan to have a hybris version of every car they sell in 15 to 20 yrs.

HOW is that possible when the insight came out BEFORE the prius?mr.green wrote:Um read above son, I know better then you do.

Toyota had an electric RAV4 yrs before the insight ever came out...it was sold in a limited market.
Honda hybrids are gas engines suplenmented by electric motors, Toyota hybrids are electric motors supplimented by gas engines. The concepts are pretty different, but some tech is shared, which most shared stuff is toyota engineered.
Don't be hurt by it, Toyota is a bigger company and has more money then Honda does....they also build a lil better car, not much but a lil.
You know all that Denso stuff under your hood of your Honda? Guess who made it? Toyota- Denso is a subsidiary of Toyota.

i have known about the electric rav4 for quite some time now, but that does not prove the fact about what you said, thatmr.green wrote:Toyota had an electric RAV4 yrs before the insight ever came out...it was sold in a limited market.

"Toyota actually sells their old hybrid tech to other manufactors to put in their current lineup ie: honda ford nissan subaru FYI "
but thats not true as the insight came out before the prius, and the electric rav4 is not a hybrid. I am not "butt hurt" at all about the size of a company. and just so you know, the majority of electrical stuff under my hood is not denso ;-).....also just so you know, mfg's in japan are REQUIRED to use at least 2 different manufacturers of parts like spark plugs, tires, etc as part of fair business practices. and just so you know, as an entire corporate entity, mitsubishi is the largest from japan that produces automobiles and all sorts of other shit
yeah I'm sure you do have some denso under there...not majority, never stated that- denso is like a japanese bosch ya know....so it's there in small motor s and sensors.
as for the selling of hybrid tech, well your gonna have to take my word for it, cause I'm in the loop and you're, well...not.
A company does not tell to the public that they buy stuff from competitors, but the sellers are pretty quick to point out that they sell it show show there knowledge is more advanced, which it is over the competotion....don't take my word for it just look at any auto rating rag they put it above the rest of the lot in every review.
Yes mitsu is a bigger co. or at least a broader one. Sure total agreement. Toyota is just better and larger world wide.
Damn, i feel like I'm on the debating team, or else i'm trying to sell you a toyota via this forum. well were dead at work so once i switch you from a Honda,m what r u gonna buy?
