I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

Where to find a 3sgte?

Post by still.here » April 24, 2006

I'm looking for a 3sgte to swap into my brothers '92 MR2. Anyone know of any importers on the east coast, or is there a Toyota site similar to hmotorsonline.com? I would need a complete swap (motor, tranny, ecu, etc...). He has an N/A model with the shitty Camry motor so I'll need everything.

He wants a 3sge Beams motor, which I think is a European only motor. Image Hybrid already said it's a pain in the ass to swap, So I'd rather get either a USDM 3sgte or buy another MR2 that already has a 3sgte.

Help me out!

you are better off swapping in a camry v6 motor into an na mr2. and a beams motor, off the top of my head, is a 3sge... not a 3sgte. so they are not turbo applications. if you are looking for a 3sgte and plan to mod it later, just get the frist years that came in the mr2. its not worth paying the extra grand in cash for 20hp.

Cool, I'll try to get a hold of him. We're trying to get this motor soon, so he'll time to enjoy it over the summer.

We considered the V6 Camry motor. I even kept a couple issues of SCC that had a "how to" on swapping it into a 2nd gen MR2.

I think I'm about done with my car, so I look forward to messing around with something new.
