The 1.6s can take more boost but won't make the same power, the 99 BP head out-flows the previous ones.

I would still do a 1.8 swap...... no replacement for displacement

that's what I'm saying, the 1.8 is the way to go, either full 99 or 94/99 frankenstein.

I was thinking 94-97 block and a 99-2000 head would be the best choice....
